Susan Sarandon Bio
It was
following the 1968 Democratic convention and there was a casting call for a
film with several parts for young people who had disrupted the convention. Joe
(1970) was offered a role in New York by two recent Catholic University
graduates. Chris Sarandon was not selected for the role, despite having
previously studied acting. His wife Susan was offered a part in the film as
Susan Compton. Susan is the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill
kills Susan’s drug dealer boyfriend. Next, Joe (Peter Boyle) as a bigot, who
works on an assembly line, and also collects guns, befriends Susan. Five years
later Sarandon is the director of the movie. Janet is a transvestite who is
entangled by the mysterious Dr. Frank n Furter (1975). In the more than 15
years since making her debut, Sarandon at last actively campaigned for a
starring role in the film Annie in Bull Durham (1988), travelling at her own
expense Rome to Los Angeles. "It had such a great script... It did rid of
a lot of legends, and challenged American definitions of success," she
stated. "I went to the studio with Kevin Costner, sex some males in the
studio and then hopped back on a plane. Tim Robbins, her Bull Durham (1988) as
a supporting actor, was her first lover. He had two sons by 1992. This puts
Sarandon in an awkward position. She was forced to leave her home to take on
the most challenging roles. Four Academy Award nominations were received in the
1990s. The best actress award for Dead Man Walking (1995) was also given. Louis
Malle's Atlantic City (1980), was her first Academy Award nomination.
